A Fun Game!

This is the first time for me to play this game and I’m already a HUGE fan of it. Here’s whats fun: - Explore the Caribbean for hidden treasure, go on personal adventures (like finding your lost family) and plundering various vessels of the sea. - Join a country and fight for them, or betray them, as desired. You’re the pirate, so you decide how you will get things done. - Attack or sneak into cities; conqueroring them reminds me a lot of Sid Meier’s Civilization game. - Plunder gold from trading ships, and then buy items with it to enhance your abilities as a pirate. Additional fun aspects that add to the game: - Countries can and will take a bounty out on your head, if you hit them a bit too hard. You might find yourself getting chased across the sea! - Weather (strong winds) can help or hinder your ability to win or … escape. - Go to jail if you’re caught or captured. Bribe a guard to released early, but your ship might get chased from the port. Problems with the game: - There are some graphical “bug" issues, like flickering screen effects (fading transitions) that need to be fixed. It doesn’t affect game play, but can it be QUITE annoying! - When the Governor’s daughter asks you to go on a dance, the keystrokes used to control the dance moves can be a bit cumbersome, especially for laptop users. Playable, but a bit frustrating. - A few strange bugs, like not being able to change the flag on your ship from one country to another (when changing alliances). Overall, it’s a GREAT GAME! If you’re on the fence about buying it, give it a try! Very glad that I did...

June 21 2015 and shadow and graphics problems

As i sail my ship from one port to another a big reflection of my ship is on the water that covers the entire screen. Also other ships reflections do not follow the assigned ships. Occasionally a big dividing line appears on my screen that won’t go away until i restart the game. When speaking to the Govenor of a port town the screen locks up or has a static effect. I Use one of the Latest IMac computers that should have no problem supporting a older game like this. I wouldn’t waste my money purchasing this game until the problems are fixed.

PLEASE update Feral

This is a classic game. When it worked, it was a lot of fun to play. However, on newer systems the graphics are corrupted in a way that makes it impossible to play. I reached out of FERAL over a year ago and they said they were aware of the issues. However I see no update since 2011. I guess maybe they have just moved on from supporting this game, but if you have a new MBP (or apparently from the other comments iMac) I would not purchase this game until an update comes along.

One of the best openrpll play game ever made

Hello to all i have been playing pirates since it came out on apple in the early 80’s for the first apple pc and commodore pc now that’s old. the game has changed over the years and the new version is excellent… have yet to have any issues with it… Now the down side the original pirates had the silver train which you could capture plus the treasure fleet while in port would yield up to 50,000 in gold the new version kind of lacks big treasure captures the most i have seen on a treasure ship is 5,500 never seen anything bigger than that loot taken towns the same small yields. i did a tally of how much gold you can capture thru an entire game and the most is 1,000,000 pcs. of gold for the entire game and that is following a set plan of trade plunder and looting. But all in all it’s a very good game.. the designer made the game so you can play at your pace it’s up to the user to seek great fortune or flounder.. the object is to build your rank find your family and evenged your family name…. hint cough it does have tricks and hint in the game you just got to look at it as a puzzle.. hint if you want to make large plunders from other name pirates hold off on capturing other pirates the the longer you keep them in the game the more you can plunder from them when you in counter them. i wait till 15 yrs. game time then hunt for pirates. what i stated above is fact. as when i hit henry morgan at the end he had 65,000 when i beat him… this is a great game hours of funny wish they would create a new game pirates of the east indies and you can sail to and from each area. i rate the game 5 Stars we have a pirates club weir a few of us gather to play each month for over 30 yrs.
